Cheapest Premium Gas Prices in Calgary Today

Live premium (91+ octane) prices across Calgary, sorted cheapest first and refreshed every hour. Cheapest right now: 175¢/L at Costco — 12905 Buffalo Run Blvd.

Premium gasoline carries the biggest markup spread in Calgary. The premium-over-regular gap ranges from about 12¢/L at warehouse-club gas bars to 30¢/L or more at full-service stations — which means the station you choose matters more for premium than for any other grade. If your vehicle requires 91 octane, picking the right pump can save $8–12 on a single tank versus the most expensive station on the same day.

Nearly every priced station we track in Calgary sells a premium grade (typically 91 octane; Shell V-Power and Petro-Canada Ultra 94 run higher octane at a higher price). Costco deserves a special mention: its premium is usually priced only ~20¢ above its already-low regular, making it the cheapest 91-octane fuel in the city on most days — Costco premium is also the only grade at Costco that some luxury and turbocharged vehicles can use, so the members-only line tends to be worth it.

One caution that applies to premium more than other grades: only pay for it if your car requires or measurably benefits from it. If your owner’s manual says “premium recommended” (not required), modern engines will run safely on regular with a small performance reduction. If it says “premium required”, use the list below to pay as little as possible for it.

Premium in Calgary: FAQ

Where is the cheapest premium gas in Calgary?

Costco gas bars are almost always cheapest for premium (91 octane), typically 15–25¢/L below major-chain premium on the same day. Co-op and independent stations come next. The live list on this page ranks every station with a current premium price, cheapest first.

What octane is premium gas in Calgary?

Standard premium in Calgary is 91 octane. Shell V-Power is 91–93, and Petro-Canada Ultra 94 is the highest octane commonly available at 94. Costco premium is 91 octane.

Does my car actually need premium?

Check the fuel door or owner’s manual. “Premium required” (common on turbocharged German makes and performance models) means use 91+. “Premium recommended” means the engine adjusts safely to regular with slightly reduced power and efficiency. Using premium in a car that only needs regular has no meaningful benefit.

Why is the premium price gap different between stations?

Stations price premium semi-independently of regular. Warehouse clubs treat premium like regular with a fixed small markup, while full-service chains use premium as a margin product. That is why the premium spread across Calgary (often 25–30¢/L) is wider than the regular spread (8–15¢/L).
