Costco gas bars are the price anchor of the Calgary fuel market. On a typical day, Costco regular runs 10–20 cents per litre below the major chains, and its premium (91 octane) is often the cheapest premium fuel in the city by an even wider margin. The catch is well known: you need an active Costco membership to pump, lines peak on weekends and weekday evenings, and payment at the pump is Mastercard or debit.
Calgary has five Costco gas bars — Beacon Hill on Sarcee Trail NW (the one drivers also search as "Costco Sarcee"), East Hills off 17 Avenue SE, Heritage Gate SE off Deerfoot, Buffalo Run on the Tsuut’ina Nation beside Taza Park, and Saddletowne in the far northeast — plus a sixth at CrossIron Mills in Balzac just north of the city. Costco fuel is standard-spec gasoline with deposit-control additives (it meets Top Tier standards), so the discount is a business-model choice, not a quality difference: the gas bar exists to drive memberships and warehouse trips. If a fill is 60 litres, a 15¢/L gap covers a good chunk of the membership fee in just a few months of fueling.
