Diesel pricing in Calgary moves on its own schedule. While regular gasoline follows the well-known Tuesday/Wednesday retail cycle, diesel tracks wholesale distillate markets more closely, and the spread between the cheapest and most expensive diesel pump in the city is routinely 15–25 cents per litre — wider than the spread on regular. That makes shopping around worth real money: on a 75-litre pickup or diesel SUV tank, a 15¢/L difference is over $11 per fill.
About three quarters of the priced stations we track in Calgary sell diesel. The consistently cheapest diesel tends to cluster at the same kinds of stations as cheap regular — Costco gas bars (members only), Co-op fuel locations, and independent banners like Centex, Tempo and Domo — while highway-convenience locations along Deerfoot, Stoney and 16 Avenue post the highest prices.
